Why isn't SiteRoot free forever?
Because it costs money every time, not once. Building your website is not a one-off we make back later: a single rebuild costs us most of a month's subscription, and it costs that again the next time you ask for one. Hosting is a bill that arrives for as long as your website is live. A free plan would not make any of that go away. It would only move who pays.
Somebody always does. It might be ads on your website, or your details sold on, or a first year priced cheaply enough to make the second one hurt, or a plan that stays free right up until you try to publish. We would rather not do any of that.
So there is one price and it is the whole price: A$16.50 a month including GST, hosting included, no setup fee and nothing above it to upgrade to. If it ever stops being worth it, you cancel, and your website stays up to the end of your trial or of the period you have paid for.
What actually happens, and when.
Your card is asked for during the trial
Your site builds and goes live with no card at all. We ask for one inside your 14 days, so nothing stops when they run out. It is there so your site keeps running the moment the trial ends, rather than going dark while you look for your wallet.
You are told the exact date
The date of your first payment sits on your billing screen from the day you start, in words, not buried in a receipt. Cancel before that date and nothing is charged.
Cancelling never deletes anything
Cancel inside your free trial and you are never charged. Cancel later and your website stays live to the end of the period you have paid for. Either way everything is kept: your pages, your words, your images. We do not delete your site.
